Thomas G. Gesner II, 90, Tiverton

Thomas Golden Gesner II, age 90, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Mr. Gesner was born March 7, 1927, in Fall River, the son of the late P. William and the late Lucy D. (Hicks) Gesner.  He was the loving husband of June (Howes) Gesner.  

Mr. Gesner lived in Fall River and Tiverton where he grew up and made a home with his wife, June.  Mr. Gesner was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School in 1945 and later of Bryant College. He served in the US Army during World War II. 

Mr. Gesner and his wife were active members of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Fall River and, after moving to Tiverton, became faithful members of Portsmouth United Methodist Church for 42 years. He worked for 37 years as a salesman for Nabisco. During his retirement, he loved to travel and work in his garden at his home in Tiverton.

He is survived by June, his wife of 62 years; son Thomas Gesner III and his wife, Marianne of Dedham, Mass.; daughter, Carolyn Teclaw and her husband Charles of Gloucester, Va.;, brother, George L. Gesner of Somerset, Mass.; four grandchildren, Lauren Outerson, Kathryn Gesner, Robert Cannon and Charles Teclaw, and two great grandchildren, Austin Cannon and Florence Outerson.

He was predeceased by his brothers, William H. Gesner, Edward H. Gesner, and Richard C. Gesner.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m.. at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.

Mr. Gesner’s funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. in Portsmouth United Methodist Church, East Main Road, Portsmouth.  Following the service the burial will be in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton.  A reception will be held at noon in Portsmouth United Methodist Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Portsmouth United Methodist Church.
