Thelma M. Sanford, Tiverton

Thelma M. (Manchester) Sanford of Tiverton died at home on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012. She was the wife of the late Leverett Sanford.
Born in Tiverton, daughter of the late Charles H. and Arvilla J. (Reynolds) Manchester, she was a lifelong resident of the town.  Mrs. Sanford enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Sanford of Fall River, and David Sanford and Brian Sanford, both of Tiverton; two daughters, Edwena King of Tiverton and Arvilla Turcotte of Little Compton; one brother, Harold Manchester of Little Compton;  many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sanford was mother of the late Leverett Sanford Jr. and Thelma Quick.
Graveside service to which relatives and friend are invited will be Friday, Oct. 26, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton, at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, Westport.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
