St. Andrews heads to annual BABC hoops tourney


BOSTON — The St. Andrew's School Varsity I squad is one of the notable participants in the annual Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC) Prep School Classic Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 19 and 20, at the Ray and Joan Kroc Salvation Army Community Center.

The Saints face Tilton Saturday at 3:20 p.m.

The event will consist of seven games featuring fourteen top area prep school programs.  Each game will showcase future college stars and commits, all competing in the heart of the Boston community.


“BABC is excited to once again host the Prep Classic,” said Jay Demings, BABC’s Director of Operations. “We feel we have compiled the best regional prep school teams and believe that the advanced level of play will make for another memorable event.”


This is the fourth annual Prep Classic hosted by the BABC and the event marks the second time it will be held in the City of Boston.


The up-to-date game schedule is as follows:


Saturday, January 19


2:00 PM  Vermont Academy vs. Redemption Christian Academy (NY)

3:20 PM  St. Andrew’s School (RI) vs. Tilton School (NH)

4:40 PM  New Hampton School (NH) vs. Notre Dame Prep (MA)

6 PM  Beaver Country Day (MA) vs. Worcester Academy (MA)


Sunday, January 20


2 PM  Kimball Union Academy (NH) vs. Marianapolis Prep (CT)

3:20 PM  Brimmer & May School (MA) vs. Northfield Mt. Hermon (MA)

4:40 PM  Rivers School (MA) vs. Pingree School (MA)


As an addition to the event, BABC will also host two make-up games from the weather-delayed BABC Holiday High School Classic. On Monday, January 21, Brighton High School will face University High School (CT) at noon followed by Capital Prep (CT) against Cambridge Rindge & Latin at 2 p.m.. Both games this day will take place at New Mission High School, 655 Metropolitan Ave. in Hyde Park, MA


Tickets for the Prep Classic are $10 per day for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. For directions and schedule updates, visit
