Secret Garden Tour 'On The Point' in Newport

On June 15-17, enjoy self-guided walking tours of some of Newport's loveliest private gardens. The annual Secret Garden Tour opens the gates to a variety of beautiful gardens maintained by their owners. These genuine labors of love are shared with the community to help raise funds for the Arts Education programs in the Island’s public schools. Starting at Storer Park near the causeway to Goat Island, the tour features over a dozen private gardens hidden in Newport’s historic Point District.

WHERE: Newport's Point District
WHEN: Friday through Sunday, June 15-17; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
COST: $20 and up

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
