Scott Kirby at The Courthouse

Posted

We are Thrilled to welcome back Singer, songwriter, guitarist, storyteller, sailor and road warrior Scott Kirby. Writing songs for a new CD, performing 150 live shows a year throughout the US and Canada, and holding down the stage at his own club—Key West’s Smokin’ Tuna Saloon—keep the barnacles off this modern-day troubadour.

A creative lyricist and accomplished finger-style acoustic guitarist with an expressive voice, Kirby describes himself as a direct descendant of the ’70s singer… a Margaritaville experience you’ll want to see, sing and dance too.

He will be joined on this tour by Harmonica virtuoso Gary Green of Charlottesville, Virginia. Green is a winner of several national and international harmonica competitions and has accompanied and recorded with dozens with artists on the east coast, and tours regularly with the Mayer Kirby Mayer Group. He also recently returned from a cultural exchange to Afghanistan where he performed with a number of American and Afghan musicians. He has recorded several albums of his own.Bob Doolittle of Hanover, Massachusetts will round out the trio on acoustic, electric and bass guitar and vocals. Doolittle is an 8 time Boston Music Award winner and performed with well-known songwriter Darrel Scott for several years as well as many other artists.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
