Sandra Marino, Barrington

Sandra Marino, born on Dec. 7, 1943 in Bristol, died in Englewood, Fla. on July 27, 2013. She had retired there with her faithful dog Babe.

Sandy graduated from Bristol High in 1961, later graduating from the histology school at RI Hospital where she worked for many years.

She raised her family in Barrington and leaves behind her beloved children, Christopher MacDougall, Mac MacDougall, her daughter Sally Clarke, three grandchildren, Shannon and Shawn Clarke, Kellie McGown and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving son Scott MacDougall, who passed Dec. 2012. She leaves behind a sister Eleanor Marino and a cousin Pat Fiara.

She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle ways. A memorial service will be held on Oct. 20 at 9:30 at the Carmelite Monastery in Barrington. All are welcome.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
