Ryan E. Fitzpatrick, 35, of Barrington


Ryan E. Fitzpatrick, 35, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012 after a 10-month battle with ALS.

He was the loving husband of Bethany L. (Sutton) Fitzpatrick of Warwick. Born in Farmingdale, NY, he was the son of Thomas E. and Diana M. (Holmes) Fitzpatrick.

Ryan was a graduate of Barrington HS, class of 1995. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and received advanced training as an MP.

Most recently Ryan served in the 102nd Network Warfare Squadron of the Rhode Island Air National Guard. During his 15 years of military service he was deployed overseas in Bosnia, Croatia, and Guantanamo Bay. His MP unit also provided security at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and in New Orleans as part of the relief effort in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

In his civilian life, Ryan worked as a network architect for J.P. Morgan Chase.

Ryan is survived by his wife and three sons: Matthew, Benjamin, and Thomas Fitzpatrick; as well as his parents, stepmother Jennifer Fitzpatrick, and five siblings: Timothy, Daniel, Kevin, Alex and Nicole Fitzpatrick.

A funeral service will be held at Christ Church, 1025 Main St., East Greenwich on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 9 AM followed by interment at RI Veterans’ Cemetery in Exeter with military honors.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Barrington Christian Academy (Matthew, Benjamin and Thomas Fitzpatrick Scholarship Fund), 9 Old County Road, Barrington, RI 02806. Please make checks out to Barrington Christian Academy and in the memo line indicate that the donation is for the Fitzpatrick Boys Scholarship Fund.
