Rumford man claims winning MegaMillions ticket purchased in East Providence

CRANSTON — The $10,000 winning ticket from the Mega Millions drawing on April 12, 2012 was finally claimed by a Rumford man, the Rhode Island Lottery stated in a press release Tuesday, March 12.

The winning ticket was set to expire in exactly one month. He didn't know what to do with the money so he kept the ticket locked up in a safe. Eleven months later, he still doesn't know what to do, but says his wife will probably find something to spend it on! He mentioned that they might go back to Costa Rica for their anniversary.

He purchased the ticket at Shaw's Supermarket at 757 Taunton Avenue in East Providence.
