Riverside Middle School sets Ice Cream Social/Locker Night for new students


EAST PROVIDENCE — Stephen Prew, Principal, and Gregory McCarthy, Assistant Principal, will be hosting an Ice Cream Social/Locker Night to welcome all incoming Sixth Grade students and their parents to Riverside Middle School on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Students will have an opportunity to meet their teachers, they will be assigned their lockers and will have an opportunity to decorate them.

As a reminder, the first day of school is Thursday, Sept. 5.  Students should arrive at 7:50 a.m.  Sixth grade students and their parents are welcome to join Mr. Prew in the cafeteria for a brief welcome and introduction from 8 to 8:15 a.m. Refreshments will be provided by the PTA.

Seventh and eighth grade students should report directly to their homeroom. If they do not know their homeroom, homeroom lists will also be posted outside the main office.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
