Rita Vieira, 91, Fall River

Rita (McGee) Vieira, 91, formerly of Assonet St., Borden Place East and Borden Place West, Fall River, widow of William C. Vieira, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, surrounded by her family. A former Lamport Manufacturing employee, she was a member of Tiverton Senior Citizens Club and attended the Westport Senior Citizens Day Care. She leaves two sons, William R. Vieira (late wife Dorothy) of Dover, NH, and Richard W. Vieira and his wife Rita of Tiverton; grandchildren, William Vieira, Lori-Anne Smith (husband Ronald), Debra Nicolay (husband George), Kimberlee Garcia (husband Edward), and Jessica Vieira (fiancé Derek Peacock); five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel (Lizotte) McGee and the sister of the late Lillian Fillion, Edna Durfee, Yvonne Lambert, Andria “Biddo” Scott and Joseph and Norman McGee. Her funeral was held Saturday, Nov. 3 from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral Mass in Good Shepherd Church. Entombment was in the  Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
