Rita (Langlois) Ribeiro, 80, of Greylock Road, Bristol passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013.  She was the beloved wife of Manuel Ribeiro.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Grey) Langlois.

Rita lived in Bristol all of her adult life.  Before retiring she worked at Premier Thread and the Sunset Bakery. She was a member of St Elizabeth's Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves her son Manuel Ribeiro III of Johnston, Stephen Ribeiro of Tennesse, and the late Frederick Ribeiro. She was a grandmother of three and great-grandmother of one. She was a sister of Mary Jane Ploettner of Cumberland.

Services are private.  Arrangements are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
