Richard L. Melies, 81 of Barrington

Richard L. Melies, 81 of Barrington, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2017. He was the husband of Nancy (Borges) Melies for 60 years. Born in Omaha, Neb., he was the son of Richard V. and Kathryne (Stroud) Melies.

He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop number 6 in Barrington and helped many children, including his grandson, reach Eagle Scout. Richard also loved to sail and be on the water. He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S Yellowstone based in Newport.

He leaves behind two daughters, Karen Starks of Barrington, and Susan Benedetti of Warwick. He also leaves one sister Mary Kay Ross, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Russell Melies and his three brothers, Johnny Melies, Michael Melies, and Mark Melies.
