Red Eye Flight to headline at Roots
Join Rhode Island’s native Americana band, Red Eye Flight, as they headline “The Sweet Little Variety Show”, a monthly mashup of music, comedy, dance and burlesque, at the Roots Cultural Center. What is Americana music? “To Red Eye Flight,” says band member Tim Murphy, “Americana means that mandolins are never happier than when they’re chugging along with driving bass. It means that richly layered vocal harmonies aren’t afraid to squeeze into the beat of a Zendrum. It means Country ain’t a bad word, if you’re just a little smart about how you use it. And it means there’s room in the song for purple thunder skies, for the lights of Biloxi, and for thorny paths to Anegada. Wild reposado visions. Love in Atchafalaya. Blue lights coming up behind. Dolphin stopping by for tea. Dust and sage and weeds. This is Americana music.” Red Eye Flight, which performs throughout Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, is composed of Tim Murphy, Derek Escher, Ken E. Taylor, Rand Torman and newest member, dynamic vocalist, Kelly Cleveland.
