Here are 15 recalls to be aware of this week:

Pharmaceuticals/Drugs
Auto
  • Volvo Cars, which is owned by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, is voluntarily recalling about 200,000 cars after it found an engineering issue that could potentially cause fuel leakage in the engine compartment over time. The group said its probe had identified that some vehicles may have small cracks inside one of the fuel lines in the engine compartment, which along with a pressurized fuel system may over time lead to fuel leakage in the engine compartment.
Food, Beverage & Nutritional Supplements
Recalled Flour
  • General Mills Recalls Five Pound Bags of Gold Medal Unbleached Flour. The recall is being issued for the potential presence of Salmonella which was discovered during sampling of the five-pound bag product.
  • Another company in Canada has recalled products because of possible Salmonella contamination of chili peppers. Hello Fresh Canada Inc. is recalling several flavors of meal kits because they contain the red chilies. Both Hello Fresh and Chefs Plate brand meal kits are included in the recall.
  • Canada Herb is recalling an undisclosed quantity its red chili peppersbecause of possible Salmonella contamination, according to a recall notice posted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
  • Perrigo Company, in coordination with The Kroger Company, is recalling one production lot of Simple Truth Organic Banana, Strawberry & Apple Fruit Puree with Nonfat Greek Yogurt. The product contains milk, an allergen not declared on the label.Recalled Baby Spinach
  • Satur Farms is voluntarily recalling Baby Spinach and Mesclun because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
  • Stino Da Napoli is recalling approximately 11,392 pounds of various meat products and sauces. The products were produced, packed and distributed without undergoing federal inspection.
  • Harvest Food Group, Inc. is recalling approximately 47,332 pounds of Not Ready-To-Eat (NRTE) chicken fried rice products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
  • Thrive Market, Inc is recalling all unexpired lots of the Thrive Market-branded nut butters due to the potential for contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
  • Jac. Vandenberg, Inc. Recalls Fresh Peaches, Fresh Nectarines and Fresh PlumsBecause They May Be Contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes.
  • Ottogi America is recalling 21 noodle items that may contain egg, an allergen not declared on the label.
  • H & T Seafood of Bell, Calif. is recalling approximately 71,435 pounds of imported catfish (Siluriformes) products. The products did not undergo import re-inspection upon entry into the U.S.
Infant & Children Products
  • Dairy group Lactalis is recalling one of its infant formula brands as a precautionary move as the product was supplied by the same Spanish factory linked to several salmonella cases among babies in France. The company said its LNS unit was withdrawing 16,300 tins of “Picot AR” infant formula.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
