Raymond E. Plourde, 68, Westport

Raymond E. Plourde, 68, of Westport died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Charlton Memorial Hospital.  Born in Fall River, he was son of the late Emile J. and Lucille (Perrault) Plourde.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country in the Army.

He is survived by several cousins.

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Tuesday, March 4, from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa’s Church, Tiverton at 10.  Burial will be private.  Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Forever Paws, 300 Lynwood St., Fall River, MA 02747, or Humane Society & Shelter Southcoast, 31 Ventura Drive, N. Dartmouth, MA 02747.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
