Public safety personnel participate in annual Special Olympics Torch Run

EAST BAY — Several members of  law enforcement and public safety departments in the East Bay participated in the 30th Annual Special Olympic Torch Run held Friday, May 30.

The local leg began in East Providence around noon and continued down the Bay. The Torch Run is an annual running event during which representatives from police, fire, corrections and the State Police run the “Flame of Hope” throughout state leading up to the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympic Summer Games held annually at the University of Rhode Island.

The SPRI Summer Games took place during the weekend, culminating Sunday, June 1.
