Portsmouth, Tiverton and Little Compton schools closed Tuesday

TIVERTON, LITTLE COMPTON, PORTSMOUTH — In what appears to be uniform action by Sakonnet area schools, officials announced about 1:15 p.m. Monday that schools in Tiverton, Little Compton, and Portsmouth will be closed Tuesday.

"Due to the flooding and expected power outages that are anticipated for later today and tomorrow, I am cancelling school for Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012," said Tiverton Superintendent William Rearick.

Kathryn Crowley, Superintendent of Schools in Little Compton, confirmed that Little Compton schools will be closed, and said the same decisions had been made by Portsmouth, Middletown, and Newport schools.
