Portsmouth pooch photo takes 2nd in AAA contest

PORTSMOUTH — If it’s a dog’s life, as the saying goes, then the life of one lucky Welsh Corgi is about to get even better.

Radar, a photogenic pet from Portsmouth, is the second-place winner of this year’s national AAA PetBook Photo Contest.

AAA Southern New England will present prizes and a check to Radar and his proud owners, Nancy and Dexter Liu, on Tuesday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at Roger Williams Park in Providence.

A prize-winning photo of Radar snapped at Cathedral Ledge in North Conway, N.H. is featured on the spine of the 16th edition of “Traveling With Your Pet/the AAA PetBook.” The book provides travelers with information on AAA-approved pet-friendly hotels, restaurants, campgrounds, dog parks, national public lands and emergency animal clinics.

Given winner Radar’s enthusiasm for travel, the PetBook has come in handy for the Lius.

“He loves the car rides, and enjoys hotels, and new people, places, and other dogs,” says Nancy Liu says, adding that Radar has traveled to some two dozen states.
