Portsmouth nips Huskies in unified basketball

The Mt. Hope Huskies unified basketball team lost to Portsmouth High School last Wednesday at Portsmouth, losing to their rivals, 32-26.

“It was another well-played game,” Mt. Hope coach Tom Fullen said. “Very close and nip and tuck the whole game.”

It was a heartbreak loss for the Huskies, who struggled to make a basket while the Patriots made them when it counted.

“Jared Tweedy played a tremendous game, ending up with 12 points,” Mr. Fullen said.

Portsmouth extended its record to 5-0, while Mt. Hope fell to 3-2.

Leading scorers for Mt. Hope were Jared Tweedy with 12 points, Ashley Hicks with six points, Tyesha Bliss with four points, and Randy Pullen with four points.

The Patriots’ leading scorers were Hayden Theriault, 12 points, Daniel Marshall, 12 points, Julia K., 6 points, Drew B., 2 points.

Mt. Hope has this week off before facing Central Falls next Wednesday, April 24. That game will be held at Mt. Pleasant.
