Approximately 13 members of the Barrington Police Department have enrolled in the "No Shave November" Awareness Program which takes place during the month of November.

"The goal of 'No-Shave November' is to grow awareness by embracing facial hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow free," stated a press release from the police department.

Officers will donate the money they typically spend on shaving and grooming to the National Cancer Foundation and to educate about cancer prevention, saving lives, and aiding those fighting the battle. The local police union has also agreed to donate $500 to this program in the fight against cancer.

"Residents should not be alarmed seeing an officer in uniform with a growing beard," stated the release.
