Police: Boys broke glass door at Zion property

Vacant campus regularly targeted by vandals

Posted

On Sunday, March 24, Barrington Police received a phone call from the security guard stationed on the former Zion Bible College campus.

The guard told police four juveniles had tried to smashed a glass door while trying to break into one of the vacant buildings.

Police responded to the scene and spoke with the guard. He said he had heard a loud crash and then saw four male juveniles running away from one of the buildings. The guard tracked down and stopped the boys.

Police spoke with the boys, who allegedly threw a tree branch into a glass door in an effort to break the door and enter the vacant building. The group included two 10-year-old boys and two 13-year-old boys.

Police called the parents of all the children and told them to come pick up their kids. Police also ordered the boys to stay off the property. Police said the case may be referred to the town's juvenile hearing board.

The former Zion Bible College property has been vacant for years and many of the buildings on the campus have been vandalized.
