Police arrest Providence man for alleged rape of East Providence woman

EAST PROVIDENCE — A city women has accused a Providence man of rape, East Providence Police arresting Julius C. Durant in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 26, at the victim's residence.

Mr. Durant, 37 and of 37 Warrington St., did not resist arrest and was taken into custody by police after they arrived at the home of the 26-year-old victim, who said the suspect had raped her following a night of drinking, according to EPPD Lieutenant Thomas Rush.

The woman told police she did not know the suspect prior to meeting him earlier in the evening after having been introduced by friends, Lt. Rush added. She was treated at Women & Infants Hospital and released.

She was drinking and he was drinking and they both went back to her house?

This is a case of he said/she said. Sweet girl, if you didn't want to have problems, you shouldn't have invited him in following a night on the town.

Yes, "no means no", but you simply had to have said "yes" 100 times before that.

We won't see this charge again.
