Police: Tent removed from Veterans Park

Posted

Police responded to the woods inside Veterans Park on Friday, Oct. 19, for a report of people living in a tent.

Officers found the tent, but its occupants were not there at the time. It did appear that people were living in the tent, said police. Officers had the Barrington Department of Public Works respond to the park and remove the tent.

Police went back to the park and located one of the occupants — an 18-year-old man from town. Police told the man he needed to clean up the tent site and then he could retrieve his tent. The man obliged.

A similar situation was reported in the woods at Haines Park recently — people spotted a tent in a section of the woods near the rear parking lot. Police were notified of the situation.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this article did not reference the tent at Haines Park.
