P. Michael Saccoccia, 74, Warren

P. Michael Saccoccia, 74, of Warren, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. Born in Bristol, he was a son of the late Michael and Dominica “Mamie” (Campagna) Saccoccia.

Mr. Saccoccia was a stenographer for the Rhode Island court system for 35 years before retiring. After retiring he volunteered as a patient advocate at Fatima Hospital. He will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit.

He is survived by his aunt, Victoria “Stella” Saccoccia, and many loving cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, in St. Alexander’s Church, Main Street, Warren. Burial will be in St. Alexander’s Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
