North Providence edges Tiverton tennis


In a close match, North Providence proved to be a little too much for Tiverton to handle last week winning a tight 4-3 victory today to take sole possession of first place in Division III Central.

Tiverton moved into second with their first loss on the season.

Match results were:

3. David Caracciolo (NP) def. Dylan Clement (Tiv) 6-4. 6-1

4. Earl Magat (NP) def. Tom O'Hara (Tiv) 6-3, 6-0



1st - Lia Thornton/Dominic Payer (Tiv) def. Kyle Rodrigues/Marc Bedancourt (NP) 5-7, 6-2, 6-4

2nd - Kenneth Richards/Jake DiDomenico (NP) def. Amy Thornton/Rachel Mauricio (Tiv) 7-5, 6-2

3rd - Owen Flanagan/Avery Pacheco (Tiv) def. Brandon Antazana/Aries Magat (NP) 6-0, 6-4

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
