New exhibit at Westport gallery

“Beach House Path,” a painting by Donna English, is among the works you’ll find in “3-4-5, A Multi-media Art Show” at the Russell Gallery at Westport Rivers Vineyard and Winery. The show features work by three local artists in oils, pastel, collage, photography and watercolor. Donna English of Tiverton paints vibrant flowers, local landscapes and sometimes quirky chickens in pastel and watercolor. Michele Bailey of Fall River creates abstract works in oil and in collage, as well as ethereal landscape paintings in pastel and watercolor. Stacey Frates of Marion, Mass. is showing her light-filled pastel paintings and photography featuring cats, gardens and landscapes near and far. Meet the artists at the opening reception from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5.

Meet our staff
Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
