PORTSMOUTH — Residents will be now have detailed information at their fingertips about local people who served in the military.
On Saturday the Town Council and the Veterans Honor Roll Committee formally dedicated the new digital Veterans Honor Roll that is located in the Town Hall lobby.
The database of hundreds of local veterans can be accessed via a touchscreen and large-screen television set, as well as online at www.privhr.org.
The website designers were Andre Ferreira, owner of F50 Development, and Korey Mendes, founder of JKS Technologies.
Honor roll committee members Carolyn Evans-Carbery and Michael Nott were also honored.
In related news, the original Veterans Honor Roll, which used to be located in the Town Hall lobby before being moved to the Town Council chambers, will be moved back into the lobby.
Town Administrator Richard Rainer Jr. looked into finding a new spot for the original honor roll after concerns were raised that it was being “hidden” inside council chambers.
He told the Town Council Monday night that the honor roll could be relocated to a spot in the lobby where a quilt was hanging.
“It would still be in the lobby and visible and in the same vicinity as the new honor roll,” Mr. Rainer said.
The council voted unanimously to approve his recommendation.
