Mystic Aquarium to Host ‘Horseshoe Crab Watch’ at Napatree Point

Mystic Aquarium invites members of the community to participate in an Ocean Ambassador program at Napatree Point in Westerly to witness as horseshoe crabs gather. Head to the beach for this nighttime, family horseshoe crab watch on Friday, May 31st. 


Attendees will also help Mystic Aquarium staff members tally the total number of horseshoe crabs that appear while learning about the vital role these “living fossils” play in our local ecosystem. Guests should be prepared to get their feet wet while hiking a two to three mile stretch along the sandy beach of Napatree Point in Westerly.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
