Movement at former I Shalom plant in Warren
The former I Shalom handkerchief warehouse and factory at 569 Main St. is getting a facelift and will soon be managed and available for lease.
The building at the corner of Main and Broad streets has been on the market for several years, most recently listed at $1.85 million. It is owned by the New York Accessory Group, but activities in Warren were halted a few years ago and moved to another I Shalom location in the Bristol Industrial Park.
Though there have been no takers, the building will be leased out for at least the next year, and managed by Dave Wescott, owner of 30 Cutler St.
Mr. Wescott said plans are to improve the building and parking lot, and remove the chain link fence that runs around the periphery. There are five or six offices facing Main Street, and lots of warehouse space as well.
Mr. Wescott has been talking to Isaac Shalom, of the New York Accessory Group, for a few months. The plan now is to do the improvements over the next few months, and then work on tenants.
"He's made a commitment to the building" to try to get it filled, Mr. Wescott said. "He's going to be improving it."
