Meet Sarah Principe: Loves family nights and summer boating

Home: “Bristol. I graduated from Mt. Hope High School, and I live here with my husband, Keith Medeiros, who is a Bristol police officer, my stepdaughter, Karsyn, and our black lab, Baron.”

Why real estate: “My father is a builder and a real estate investor, so I have been exposed to this business all my life. After I earned a degree in Business Management from URI and wondered what aspect of business I should go manage, I gravitated toward HR because I have a flair for working with people. I moved on to mortgage financing on the advice of my father, who thought it would be a good idea to learn that side of the business. I did that for about two years before becoming a Realtor six years ago. Now I could not imagine doing anything else. I absolutely love it, and it’s a natural fit for me.”

These are a few of my favorite things: “I love spending time on the water. I took sailing lessons one summer when I was younger, and it was a blast, but I really like power boats, and try to get out as often as I can in the summer. We like to go down to Sakonnet Point, where there are sandy beaches not accessible by car, and Baron can run around with my parents’ two black labs. I love spending time with family. My ideal night is at home with Keith, Karsyn and Baron, a glass of wine in my hand, maybe a pizza. I like fine wine. I’m a happy girl when I have a glass of wine in my hand. Is that bad?”

The Elf on the Shelf: Friends have been posting pictures of their Elf’s antics, and some of them have been pretty funny. But the other day I saw one, the parents had put the elf too close to a light and it burned. Its face was half melted off, it couldn’t report to Santa. Their kids were horrified. But that picture – if I even think about it, I crack up. That was funny.”

Best part of my job: “It is definitely all the incredible people that I meet. Everyone is so unique, and everyone is so colorful and interesting. Each day is a little different, and I get to see all kinds of properties and architectural styles, which I love. Spend my days sitting behind a desk? That’s not for me. I’d go nuts.”

Work ethic: “I’m a perfectionist, and I like to have my hand in all aspects of my job. I don’t like to delegate, or neglect details – even small ones. It can make for a long workday, but when you love what you do, that’s not a problem. And it’s the only way to be sure that my clients are getting the kind of service they expect and deserve from their Realtor.”
