Medora E. LaPlante, 95, Westport

Medora E. (Bessette) LaPlante, 95, of Westport, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Hathaway Manor in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Wilfred J. LaPlante.

Born in Fall River and daughter of the late Eugene and Edesse (Nadeau) Bessette, she had resided in Westport for most of her life.

Prior to her retirement, she had worked at the former Harley Dress of Fall River.

She was a member of the Westport Senior Citizens, a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW Post 8502 in Westport, and a communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Mrs. LaPlante was an avid bingo player, loved music, dancing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her two sons, Roger A. LaPlante and his wife Barbara of Westport, and Ronald W. LaPlante and his wife Dianne of Westport; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Eugene, Arthur and Robert Bessette and Lillian Pichete and mother-in-law of the late Barbara LaPlante.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.Arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, Westport.
