Mary A. Ferri, 88, Barrington


Mary A. Ferri, age 88, of County Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Darlington Memory Lane. She was the wife of the late Anthony C. Ferri.

Born in East Providence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Teresa (Oliveira) Almeida. After graduating from Johnson and Wales she worked in the computer room at Coro’s for 20 years. She worked as a data entry supervisor at the Outlet Company, and Cherry & Webb. After retirement Mary also did data entry for American Insulated Wire.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Maria Ferri of Barrington. She is also survived by her brother Anthony A. Almeida of East Providence, three nephews, Frank McQuiggan, Stephen McQuiggan, John McQuiggan and one niece Christine McQuiggan. She was the sister of the late Teresa McQuiggan.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 14 at 9 a.m. from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Ave., Barrington. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
