Martin Middle School students earn praise

Posted

To the editor,

During the fall, Martin Middle School students, parents, and staff, while were busy focusing on State Assessments testing and the beginning of the school year, held a canned food drive to support local food pantries.

The MMS Student Committee, led by Advisor Pamela Riel, organized a school-wide food drive in which all homerooms participated, with the largest contributing homeroom receiving a pizza party.  Overall, 1,381 items were donated by students and their families to the drive.

Since Martin Middle School is one of the Feinstein Leadership Schools, we were able to receive a check for the maximum of $1,000 for our outstanding efforts to help those in need with the food drive. Thank you to all those who contributed to the food drive and thank you to Alan Shawn Feinstein and The Feinstein Foundation for recognizing the good deeds of our students.

Frank DeVall, Jr.

Principal, Martin Middle School
