Marion P. "Pat" Kocsis, 88, Riverside


Marion P. (Croke) Kocsis, “Pat”, 88, of Pawtucket Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on October 24, 2013.  She was the wife of the late Frank Kocsis.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Marion (Tattrie) Croke, she was a lifelong resident of Riverside. Mrs. Kocsis was a receptionist for the Visiting Nurses of Providence for 23 years.  She was a communicant of St. Brendan Church.

She is survived by two daughters; Kathleen Rayko of Coventry and Karen Hopkins of West Warwick, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday Oct. 29, from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial follows in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
