Maria Odilia Fernandes, 71, of Bristol

Maria Odilia (Gomes) Fernandes, 71, of Robin Drive, Bristol, passed away on Oct. 19, 2018, at Evergreen Nursing Center. She was the wife of Teotonio Fernandes.  

Born in Relva, St. Michael, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria daConceicao Gomes. She was the mother of Joseph Fernandes of Bristol; grandmother of Zane Fernandes and Khol Fernandes; and sister of Joao Gomes and Jose Gomes, both of Bristol. 

Mrs. Fernandes was educated in Portugal and employed by Up Country as a seamstress.

Her funeral services were held Oct. 22 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Marinaldo Batista at St. Elizabeth’s Church.  Liturgical readings were by Melissa Cordeiro and Sandra Cummings.  The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Jennifer Terra. The offertory gifts were presented by Zane and Khol Fernandes.

Burial followed in North Burial Ground. Serving as pallbearers were Joe Gomes, Adelino Gomes, Luis Cabral, Jesse Cordeiro, Louis Fernandes and Joe Gomes.
