Margaret Cabral, 62, Bristol


Margaret Cabral, 62 of Second School St. passed away Oct. 4.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Vieira) Cabral.

She was the mother of Christina Duarte and Michael Duarte; the sister of Lucio Cabral, Dolores Noronha and Daniel Cabral.

A lifelong resident of Bristol, Margaret was a 1969 graduate of Bristol High School.

She worked for the James L. Maher Center for nine years and as a secretary at Raytheon for 26 years.

Her funeral services were held Oct. 9 from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Luis Dutra at St. Elizabeth Church. Liturgical readings were by Luke Borges and Edward Castro who also read the Prayer of the Faithful.  The offertory gifts were presented by Anthony Noronha, Georgiana Cabral and Pat Cabral.

Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Anthony C. Noronha, Andrew A. Noronha, Faustino Lima, Paul Borges, Nelson Afonso and Manuel Mendonca.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
