Madeleine G. Clohecy, 63, Tiverton


Madeleine G. (Couturier) Clohecy, 63, of Tiverton, wife of Michael Clohecy and daughter of the late Paul and Angelina (LaFrance) Couturier, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014.

A retired loan officer, she was employed by the Garment Worker’s Federal Credit Union and the former Fall River Five Cents Savings Bank. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and the outdoors.

Besides her husband of 43 years, she leaves three children, Steven Clohecy of Fall River, Karen Chaves and her husband Jackson Chaves Jr. of Little Compton, and Susan Moniz of Fall River; grandchildren, Desmond and Nicholas Clohecy, Haley, Amber, Jackson and Ella Chaves and Julie and Jill Moniz; siblings, Ronald Couturier of Fall River and Claudette Couturier of Warwick; and nieces and nephews.

Her funeral was held Monday, July 7, from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St., Fall River, with a funeral Mass at St. Theresa Church, Tiverton. Burial was at Newport Memorial Park, Middletown.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
