M. Elizabeth Dallery, 106, Tiverton

M. Elizabeth Dallery, 106, of Tiverton, and formerly of Montclair, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012.  She was the wife of the late Robert C. Dallery and is survived by her son, R. Carleton Dallery of Narberth, Penn.; her daughter, June K. Doolittle, of Pray, Mont.; and by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  She was lovingly cared for by the staff at Sakonnet Bay Manor since her move there in 1999.
In Montclair, Mrs. Dallery taught drama for many years, was a passionate gardener and actress,  and she served on many town council committees until she was in her 80’s, working tirelessly for the beautification and improvement of Montclair’s business district.  She founded the now annual “May in Montclair” festival and received, in 1984, the “Private Sector Initiative Award” from President Reagan, for “exemplary community service,” one of 32 volunteers nationwide to receive that honor.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
