Lucy M. (Cabral) Bernardo, 94, passed away on April 15, 2019, at Phillip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late John M. Bernardo.
Born in Warren, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Adeline (Paiva) Cabral. She is survived by her children, Patricia Souto and her husband Joseph of Bridgewater, Mass., Paula Andreasen of East Providence, Lois Van Marter and her husband Wayne of Warren; grandchildren Stephen Souto, Andrea Cottreau, Aaron Souto, Jill Andreasen, Blair Andreasen, Cory Andreasen, Cameron Van Marter and Brett Van Marter; and great-grandchildren Ava Cottreau, Jonathan Cottreau, Madelyn Cottreau, Sarah Souto, and Benjamin Souto. She was the sister of the late Joseph Cabral, Frank Cabral, Charles Cabral, Mary Raposa, Gladys Cardoza, Beatrice Amaral and Arlene Arruda.
Mrs. Bernardo was educated in Warren and employed by the former Smith’s, Converse and PF industries for 31 years before retiring.
Her funeral services were held April 24 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
