Little Compton council has done good job, deserves to continue

To the editor:

I write this letter to all Little Compton voters to point out the accomplishments of members of our present Town Council.  With over 75 years of combined service, they have made prudent and tough decisions for our town.

Little Compton has the lowest tax rate in the state!  How fortunate we are to have this and still provide for all necessary fire and police protection, a good elementary and middle school, and a AAA bond rating.

The cost of litigation that was placed upon the town has been incorrectly attributed.  It should be understood that the town was sued and the town had to defend us.

An impressive comprehensive plan has been approved and adopted which starts with citizen-approved goals, defines measurable actions, and benefits all L.C. citizens.

They have worked with the Agricultural Trust in many ways to preserve the rural character of Little Compton and encouraged low-cost housing for those who qualify.

A new member, Monica Hopton, shares a similar agenda and is ready to contribute fresh perspectives and energy to the issues the council will face

I ask when you go to the polls in November that you vote for a slate that has shown honesty, dedication and trustworthiness as we move forward to the future.

I know we can be assured that these candidates will continue to serve us in professional way.

As an old adage says “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it”.
