Little Compton council commends scouts for actions

LITTLE COMPTON — The Town Council at its meeting Thursday, March 7, commended 11 members of Little Compton Cub Scout Pack 10 and Boy Scout Troop 29 for their actions on a recent weekend camping trip.

The boys witnessed a cabin next to theirs burn to the ground during the night of Saturday, March 2, withdrawing from their own cabin to sit out the fire from the shelter of several vans parked a safe distance away.

In front of, and on behalf of, the entire Town Council, President Robert Mushen read a commendation that lauded the boys for "their demonstrated bravery, resourcefulness, leadership and unity in the face of an extensive cabin fire."

The commendation said, "your actions bring great credit on yourselves and your organization and are in keeping with the high standards of the Scout Oath and Scout Law."
