Lisa Partridge Ramsbottom: gardener, skier, designer-turned-broker

I grew up in Sherbourne/Wellesley, Massachusetts, summered on the Cape, skied in New Hampshire, and went to college at Middlebury, in Vermont. So I consider myself a New Englander. I lived in New York City for a bit, and worked in high-tech sales and marketing, then moved to Rhode Island in 1984.

As early as when I was about ten years old, I know I wanted to go into this line of work. I used to come home from school and in my free time design houses, and draw elevations complete with detailed landscape designs.

I studied at RISD, earned my certificate in Interior Design, and owned and operated Penfield Design for 25 years. It was great. My time in corporate America gave me a good sense of what I did and did not want to do, and I enjoyed running my own business. I have an extensive background in home design and construction, and I felt like it was time to expand my knowledge base and professional experience, but continue to utilize the many resources I have in the design, construction and maintenance fields. Friends and colleagues encouraged me to pursue real estate, so I did. I received my broker's license last year, and joined Keller Williams as a Broker Associate.

I am active throughout the East Bay, Aquidneck Island, and South Coast of Massachusetts. I live in Little Compton, work out of Keller Williams' main Middletown office, and I have a desk in the Bristol office as well. I'm focused on waterfront throughout the region, from Dartmouth, Westport, Little Compton and Tiverton to Bristol and Middletown. I've learned a lot about the unique issues involved when buying and selling waterfront properties, from dealing with coastal resources regulations to flood zone insurance issues.

Family is my daughter Melissa, who is 17 and a senior at Portsmouth High School, and my son Nate, 19, who is heading to URI. We spend a lot of time outdoors, playing tennis and golfing at the Acoaxet Club and cycling, going to the beach, and boating in Westport harbor. Being on the water—who doesn't enjoy that this time of year?

I also enjoy photography and love to garden. I spend some time every week working and helping out at Chaves' gardens. Gardening is a little holistic sabbatical for me. I've skied at Wildcat Mountain in New Hampshire my whole life, and I love that it is still part of my life, and my children's lives.

I selected Keller Williams because it has excellent support and resources, as well as training and technology. I have lots of absentee clients who trust me to leverage my contacts and resources to pull a winning team together; that's part of the job that I really love. A good team will guarantee all the pieces come together, from pricing the property correctly, preparing it to be shown, and making sure is gets the exposure to the market it needs in order to sell for the best possible price.
