Linda Dias, 52, Bristol


Linda Dias, 52 of Meadow Lane passed away on Dec. 11, 2013.

She was the partner of Laury Lipponen.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (August) Dias.

She is survived by her sister Cynthia Tavares; her brother Walter Dias and his wife Joyce; several nieces, nephews and grandnephews.

Her funeral services were held Dec. 16 from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard Narciso at St. Elizabeth Church.

Liturgical readings were by Michael Tavares and Jonathan Tavares who also read the Prayer of the Faithful. The offertory gifts were presented by Jennifer O’Flaherty and Elizabeth Dias.

Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Michael Tavares, Jonathan Tavares, Timothy O’Flaherty, Thomas Brouillard and Ed Williams.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
