Some readers may have seen on Bill Maher’s HBO program his humorous, “I can’t prove it’s true ...” segment.  Two national examples might be the following: ‘I can’t prove that President Trump has a man crush on Mike Pence, but I just know it is true.’  Or, ‘I can’t prove that Nancy Pelosi sleeps in a coffin, but I just know it is true.’

So, how about some examples closer to home …

‘I can’t prove that at meetings of the Tiverton Taxpayers Association (TTA) members are fined for smiling, but I just know it is true.’  ‘I can’t prove that one candidate for Town Council actually needs that huge toilet, I just know it is true.’  ‘I can’t prove that the “Our Town, Your Voice” motto on TTA signs is deceitful, but I just know it is true.’  ‘I can’t prove that TTA Town Council slate would, if elected, take every position of their leader, but I just know it is true.’  ‘I can’t prove that said dear leader really needs a hug, but I just know it is true.’

Finally, ‘I can’t prove that being poked fun at enrages some TTA folks, but I just know it is true.’  Have some fun on Election Day.  Get out and vote.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
