To the editor:
The landmark oak tree mentioned by Dr. Burton Greifer, my dad, in a recent Barrington Times front-page article, held much more stature than an attractive roadside landmark. It served as a consistent photo background for my family’s visits to grandma and grandpa’s house.
Each trip, before we headed to the airport back home to Virginia, we took the obligatory picture in front of the tree. All four of my kids would take their spots along the wall each trip without fail. These shots document both the towering tree and stately stone wall, as well as evidence of another wonderful trip to visit my folks, Barrington residents for 50-plus years.
We miss the tree tremendously; however, it will always remain alive in dozens of family pictures.
