Letter: Selective budget stats undermine town, schools

To the editor:

Oh, the outrage! Mr. Caron (one of the "Katzenjammer kids?”) in his recent letter purports to speak for the budget committee.

No doubt some members would demur.  His use of selective statistics masks what I believe are his underlying purposes, to undermine public education, to cast doubt on library management, and to belittle the town council.

What we need in tough budget times are cooperative, respectful, sincere, constructive efforts by all involved parties to find reasonable funding solutions.

What we do not need are voices, some funded by outside groups, so negative and so suspicious that they turn off many voters and entice others with misleading statements and alluring slogans. Bypass the budget committee recommendation, FTR #1, on the May 20 ballot.
