Letter: Dedications should be considered thoughtfully
To the editor:
In 1958 while filling in a shift for another officer in Rumford, Patrolmen James (Jimmy) Caruso gave chase to a stolen car filled with teenagers. He stopped this car at the Pawtucket city line, and while checking it out, he was shot by one of the teenagers and while on the ground he as over-whelmed and shot again with is own gun. In short, he was assassinated.
In making dedications by the East Providence City Council, Jimmy's memory and those of his children left behind should not be forgotten along with other police and firefighters that died in the line of duty protecting us.
We all gave some, but some gave all.
