June R. (Robert) Robbins, 82, of Bristol


June R. Robbins, 82, of High Street, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Raised in Newton, Mass., she earned a degree in Music from Harvard University in 1952 and delighted many congregations and audiences with her piano playing over the course of the years. In 1953 she earned her Masters in Library Science from Simmons College. Her career included work in libraries in Philadelphia, Providence and Seekonk, where she resided for many years before moving to Bristol in 2002.

Ms. Robbins loved her adopted town of Bristol and in retirement enjoyed walking and travel as well as following politics and the Boston Red Sox. She was known for her many deep and abiding friendships and will be sorely missed. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Benson of Johnston, son Charles S. Robbins of Providence, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring at Colt State Park - please call 401-521-3689 for further information.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
