Julio Rocha, 87, Bristol


Julio Rocha, 87, of Wood Street passed away on December 16th at Charlton Memorial Hospital.  He was the husband of Alice (Correia) Rocha and the father of Ronald Rocha of Bristol.

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Pacheco) Rocha.  He attended Fall River schools and served in the US Navy during World War II. He was employed by Kaiser Aluminum for 20 years before retiring.

Julio was the youngest and last surviving of his 10 siblings and was named for his oldest brother Julio who passed away at a very early age.  He was also the brother of the late Manuel, Joseph and John Rocha, Mary Cabral, Irene Forand, Alexandrina Meslick, Silvana Rocha, Evangelina Fielden, Georgiana Correia and Belmira Hanson.

His funeral services were held December 19th from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard Narciso at St. Elizabeth Church. Liturgical readings were by Joseph Motta and Pearl Bettencourt and the offertory gifts were presented by Ronald Rocha and Pearl Bettencourt.  Burial followed in North Burial Ground.  Serving as pallbearers were Joseph Motta, Michael Hanson, William Hanson, Steven Bettencourt, Paul Deforge and Allen Correia.
