Joseph A. Wisniewski Jr., 65, of Westport, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at home. He was the son of Florence G. (Sagar) Wisniewski of Westport and the late Joseph A. Wisniewski, Sr.

Born in New Bedford, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. Mr. Wisniewski received his bachelors degree in history from Bridgewater State College. He then went on to graduate school at the University of Rhode Island, majoring in library science. He continued his fellowship at Columbia University.

Prior to his retirement in 2004, he had worked as a library reference director in the city of Boston.  He was elected to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Westport Free Public Library in 2005 and held that position until 2011. In addition, he served on their Building Committee from 2008-2009. He enjoyed the beach, reading and was an avid gardener. Mr. Wisniewski was a loving son and caregiver of his mother and loved spending time with his nieces.

Survivors along with his mother include one brother, Paul M. Wisniewski and his wife Patricia of Dartmouth; one sister, Faith A. Wisniewski of Westport; and three nieces, Lisa, Alycia and Kailee.
